Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
On the front page for the KARNAC.com Racers Profiles, you will see several buttons that allow you to view, post, modify, or delete Profiles. Please click on one of these buttons, depending on the action that you want to take. If you post an Profile, you will be asked to select a password for that Profile. You will also be given an Profile number. In the future, anytime that you want to modify or delete that Profile, you will need to know the Profile number and password. Therefore, please make a note of them. From the main page, click on the "Place Profile" button. and logon as described above. You will then be taken to the "Post a Racers Profile" page. Here, you will see a form with many fields. You will also be asked to select a password for that Profile. When you have filled out the form, click on the "Post my Profile" button. You should then see an acknowledgement page if your Profile was successfully posted. You will also be given a Profile number. Please make a note of your password and the Profile number, because you will need these if you ever want to modify or delete your Profile. Do I have to use my real name when posting a message? No. Even if you use your real name when you register (and we encourage that), you do not have to use your real name when you post a Profile. The script will simply publish whatever you put in the first and last name fields. If you feel more comfortable, you can use a nickname or pseudonym. Can I put HTML tags anywhere in my posts? No. You can not use HTML tags in the body of the message. If you put HTML tags in your message, the script will just throw out everything in between the <>'s. You do have the option, however, of putting a link to a picture of something if you have posted it somewhere else on the Web. What should I put in the "Text of Profile" box? This is where you put the biogaphical or other information about yourself or your racer. Why didn't my Profile show up? Your Racers Profile most likely did not show up because either you were in the wrong category or you specified search criteria that don't appear in your Profile. If so, please verify that you selected the correct category and then broaden your search by leaving more of the search fields blank. At the bottom of every page you will find the "Modify Profile" button. If you click on this button, you will see a search form. The form will ask for the Profile number and the password that you entered with this Profile. Once you have entered these, click on the "Search for Item to Modify" button. If you entered the correct information, your Profile will be displayed with a modification form beneath it. The current information from your Profile will already be filled in, so you only need to modify the fields that you want to change. Once you have filled in the form, click on the "Submit Modification(s)" button. You should then see an acknowledgement page if your Profile was successfully modified. At the bottom of every page you will find the "Delete Profile" button. If you click on this button, you will see a search form. The form will ask for the Profile number and the password that you entered with this Profile. Once you have entered these, click on the "Search for Item to Delete" button. Narrow your search by filling in the fields with information specific to your Profile (such as your last name, etc.) and click on the "Search for Item to Delete" button. If you entered the correct information, your Profile will be displayed with a warning beneath it indicating that you are about to delete it. If you are sure that you want to delete this Profile, click on the "Delete This Profile" button. You should then see an acknowledgement page if your Profile was successfully deleted. Why didn't my search turn up any hits? Your search criteria may have been too narrow. Go back to the search form and leave more of the search fields blank, or click on the "New Search" button and do a general search. For the broadest possible search, simply click on the "See All Profile" button. How do I navigate the search results page? The results of your search will be displayed on the search results page. To see more of your search results, you can click on the "See The Next X Hits" button beneath the Profiles displayed on this page. How do I contact someone who has posted a Profile? All of the Racers Profiles will list either the e-mail address of the person who posted the Profile or their phone number. The e-mail listings are also links, so you can click on the person's e-mail address to send the person a reply message.
